Business License to Design, Construct, Maintain and Repair Elevators and Conveyances or to Inspect Elevators or Conveyances

These licenses are required to Design, Construct, Maintain, and Repair Elevators and Conveyances, or to Inspect Elevators and Conveyances.

	
		

Overview

This application allows a business to request a license to practice in New York State as an:

  • Elevator Contractor – responsible for the design, construction, maintenance and repairs on elevators and conveyances, or

  • Elevator Inspection Contractor – responsible for the inspection and testing of elevators and conveyances

  • If you would like to apply for both an Elevator Contractor and an Elevator Inspection Contractor license, you must submit a separate application for each license.

    Prerequisites

    1. Must provide proof that the legal name of the business is registered.

    Requirements

    For Elevator Contractor:
    1. Must have an employee that holds a current or pending individual Elevator Mechanic license.

    2. Must have proof of appropriate insurances (Workers’ Compensation, Disability and Paid Family Leave Benefits, and General Liability with One Million Dollar minimum occurrence coverage).

    For Elevator Inspection Contractor:
    1. Must have an employee that holds a current or pending individual Elevator Inspector license.

    2. Must have proof of appropriate insurances (Workers’ Compensation, Disability and Paid Family Leave Benefits, and General Liability with One Million Dollar minimum occurrence coverage).

    3. After you apply, log in to check your application status.
